Mr. Jimmy Durbin first started peach farming with his father and brother in 1950 as a young man. Later in his life he left the farm for a military deployment in the United States Army. However, as Mr. Jimmy always said "farming is in your blood, it's part of who you are" and he returned to Chilton County and peach farming. Once he returned home he met and married Mrs. Jettie Durbin. Together he, Mrs. Jettie, and their two sons, Gary and Tim Minor continued the long lived history of peach farming in central Alabama.
Mr. Jimmy passed away in 2018 followed shortly after by his wife Jettie. However, their legacy continues to live on here at the farm. Mr. and Mrs. Durbin always believed strongly in God, family, country. They insisted the farm be run in a way which reflects these core values. J. Durbin Farms continues to uphold this and we strive every day to make sure our products and service reflects these values which were so important to Mr. Jimmy and Mrs. Jettie.
Tim Minor, as the President & CEO of the farm, his primary responsibility is to further the company's mission across the USA. He defines and executes strategies focused on leadership, in an efficient supply chain and delighting customers. These are the keys to achieving success! Tim has been farming in the peach industry since he was ten years old. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the farm's operations at J. Durbin Farms & Sunshine Farms. This includes everything from planting and harvesting crops to raising livestock, managing employees, and ensuring that the business is profitable. Tim's favorite saying is "To achieve anything you must be prepared to dabble on the boundary of disaster".
Jessica has been in the farming industry since she was born. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Jimmy and Mrs. Jettie Durbin and the daughter of Tim Minor. She works to reduce the vulnerability of the farms natural, human, physical, financial and social capital to help ensure they are productive for many years. She ensures the tilling of the soil, applying fertilizer and pesticides, weeding, thinning, pruning, picking, cutting, cleaning, sorting, packing, processing and handling harvested products.
